2019 Community Involvement | 2 min read
Vessel and Love Does have had a wonderful relationship for the past 4 years and were privileged to team up once again for the end of 2019. With both organizations headquartered in San Diego, it was a no-brainer to reconnect with this inspiring NGO to contribute to their worldwide impact on education.
Love Does informed the Vessel team about their mission to build a leadership academy for girls in Mogadishu, Somalia. This school intends to focus on leadership training, arts, sports, and wellness programs for girls ages 12-18. With this initiative, the hope is to empower young women through education and inspire their community to foster growth and development.
Vessel has previously partnered with Love Does in other regions of the world like Afghanistan and Uganda--both of which, were centered around bettering education conditions in war-torn and impoverished areas. This year, Vessel plans to top previous contributions by donating 100 percent of their proceeds from Giving Tuesday (Dec. 3rd) to the Girls’ Leadership Academy in Somalia. In addition, the two companies will team up for Vessel’s Buy a Bag, Give a Bag program to provide backpacks for young students within the U.S. and Mexico.
As the Love Does team plans to distribute the backpacks, a new sense of hope will be instilled within those that have endured harsh living conditions and a lack of educational resources. By providing essentials and educational tools, Love Does aspires to help others overcome difficult circumstances and discover their true purpose in life. This mission deeply resonates with the Vessel team, as everyone is believed to be Filled with Purpose.
In the coming months, we plan to check-in with the Love Does team to hear how their work in Somalia progresses.
